I have spent the last year and a bit reading Pirateaba’s web serial, The Wandering Inn. The premise is people from our modern earth inexplicably transported to a world where everyone gains classes, levels and skills based on their actions and experiences. Can be a little slow to get into at first, but has some fantastic moments ranging from hysterically funny to heart-poundingly epic. Pirateaba has the highest word output capacity I’ve ever seen, so each chapter is like a novella in itself. Highly recommend if you want to be drawn into another world between PGTS Chapters.

This is a good recommendation. Although, I got tired somewhere in the third book. The first two books were great. But, it didn’t continue to hold my attention. I think because I was just less and less interested in the “big” conflict the author was setting up.
I’d almost say everyone should read this series and decide for themselves, because it’s got pedigree. Lots of authors are reacting to this book (consciously or unconsciously).
There have definitely been some plot arcs that interested me more than others, and some which I felt were strung out a bit longer than necessary. I find I keep on reading - trying not to skim - because I know it’ll eventually go back to the characters/plots I like best. The scale of events expands dramatically too, to the point where the story unfolds on a global scale with huge battles. Those are exciting, although I really enjoy the cozy slice of life chapters around the inn as well.
