Percy is the first main character I’ve written that has a positive relationship with at least one parent, and also has a very clear parent-child dynamic that means he can rely on his father rather than trying to solve everything himself. Since that feels strange and abnormal to me, I tried to write this chapter while thinking of myself as the parent rather than the MC, which made it a lot easier.
