Well, I bet that Claud guy is a totally upstanding citizen !
And poor Siobhan has to re-live her past unaware for now it seems
Aaaaand we’re back!
She had broken herself, shattered her body like an egg dashed against paving stones.
Ah, this familiar imagery, coming back like an old friend. We’ve had it before when she fell climbing out of the inn and again when Damien was talking about the hypothetical person who might have turned into an Aberrant.
I appreciate young Siobhan’s attempts at breaking, even if she didn’t quite get to the entering part. I can see she came by her experience…honestly?
Tierney…why does this name sound familiar? Maybe because it sounds similar to Kiernan. Maybe. I might go trawl through the old books to make sure I haven’t missed any reference to a professor Tierney or author. I wonder if he was pushed out by the Red Guard - possibly for doing sketchy research, such as the crown of madness.
Anyway, I’m so happy this is back! Happy days!
SCREAMING!!! This Claude guy seems sketchy AF and I love it.
I really love the parallels between the first chapter of this book and the first chapter of the first book.
Will the mighty an powerful Raven Queen, 7 years hence ALSO fall down and just lay there for a second, convinced she is dead, only to be completely fine?
I’m surprised the breaking in part worked. Why use a lead door if you have an unprotected window as well?
I mean, it isn’t clear that it is actually completely unprotected from entry just from the fact that the glass was breakable, but I feel like most people who live in fourth-floor apartments probably lock their doors, even though they also have breakable windows that face a sheer drop.
True but my point was that most people don’t do dangerous experiments which could get out through the window.
I’d imagine it was warded against magic getting out but possibly an oversight to not ward against mundane objects coming in?
I’ve seen fit young creatures scale walls with shocking ease. That’s why I lock my windows as well as my doors
The amount of wall scaling Siobhan does in these books informs me that despite her scholarly demeanour, she is in fact quite a fit young thing.
From a quick ctrl-f, no mention of “Tierney”, “Claudio” or “Claud” anywhere in the series before now. No C or T initials either as far as I can tell.
I knew Claudio hadn’t been mentioned - it’s my brother in law’s name so I would have noticed
I’m pretty sure the guy is sketchy. The way he described not having a job anymore, I’m like 90% certain he was involved with something unethical.
For sure. I wonder if his friendliness is genuine or is he maybe thinking that he might be learn some of Raaz’s secrets through Siobhan.
Lmaooo young Siobhan is such a magic nerd. Too afraid of missing with a rock, so she overthinks how to use magic to do it… until someone else just goes and throws it anyway.
Interesting that she’s aware Raaz’s secrets may be bad. How many clues has she seen over the years? Just where does Raaz’s moral compass point?
