I don’t think it’s at all coincidence that the Architects of Kronos are the group responsible for retrieving Myrddins journals or that, now that we can read them, that it makes direct reference to something called “The Work”. The fact that the wardstone just so happened to crack sometime before they were seemingly sending a call to the void in hopes of finding Myrddins Hermitage. Needless to mention how impossible it should have been to scry its location given what we now know about divination. It seems to me that the Architects had foreknowledge and an item of some sorts to scry its location.
I think that their goal of obtaining a means to convert beast cores to celerium is phony baloney and is a cover their actual intentions with the journals.
There’s also that innocuous line when Lacer tried unlocking the books where its mentioned that it needed a signature that the Architects were able to spoof. Somehow. “Which, I might add, is ingenious in its own way. The most basic protection to overcome was an identity verification. Those who worked on the project before me were able to find a loophole and spoof a positive result with a little effort. Interesting, but hardly the world-shattering innovations people often ascribe to Myrddin.”
No matter what, a huge part of their goal is getting their hands on the beasts core conversion method to celerium. It’s key because Celerium is power, and having a monopoly on that method means a much higher likelihood of winning the upcoming strife. It’s not just some cover story, they will in all likelihood have no chance at all to enact their goals without that methodology. This may not be the full extent of what they hope for, but it must be a necessary component. Without Celerium, they will lose to Celerium enable Sorcerers
Moreover, we know their method of identity spoofing is nothing particularly crazy (at least according to Prof Lacer who is an expert)
How else does one access a seemingly unbreakable, locked box? Through the key," he replied simply, with a satisfied smile. “Which, I might add, is ingenious in its own way. The most basic protection to overcome was an identity verification. Those who worked on the project before me were able to find a loophole and spoof a positive result with a little effort. Interesting, but hardly the world-shattering innovations people often ascribe to Myrddin.”
This doesn’t read like they have some highly secret knowledge, rather it just reads like some clever application of Modern Sorcery found a loophole.
People have been tried for centuries to find it, and were still actively trying so it might not mean much.
They also have a very nice divination tower but it wouldn’t be surprising if they had something from him to help, but if I remember correctly how divination works it’s not required, it just make things easier and it’s possible to use a substitute representing the thing being divined for a lesser boost (but I could be wrong)
