Lacer casts compulsion: “I want the truth!”
Oliver: “You can’t handle the truth!”
Concerning that Lacer is out there actively looking for Sebastien. I can’t even imagine what conclusions he will draw if he finds out about her getting hit with a botched memory spell on the night of the fight with Siobhan. Or if he decides to investigate her apartment and finds either the journal or the piece of an aberrant.
Errata (Erratum?) :
Too focused don what he was achieving in Gilbratha

Oliver <3
I know some people don’t like him, but, after Siobhan, he is my favourite.
I think he’s doing pretty well covering for her disappearance, to be honest. “She’s busy, don’t make trouble for her.”
Also, his panic when Siobhan is in trouble is very endearing.
That said - I want to know what’s going on with her. Presumably if the chapter is from her POV then she will at some point be compos mentis and Oliver will be relieved of his terror.
Perhaps. Of course she could be stuck in a mental battle for three weeks and have us tearing our hair out.
Will Azalea be kind to us? Will she be cruel? Time will tell.
Oh, I love how Oliver-Siobhan relationship strengthens despite previous issues. He really cares about her, and she trusts him with her darkest secrets. <3
But I really hope that Sebastien-Lacer relationship also survives somehow. It is heartbreaking seeing how much he worries and is invested in Sebastien’s well-being and development. And S does need a powerful and caring mentor. Sure, Lisa could fulfill that role, but I feel like Thaddeus is a very lonely man and also needs a real connection to someone who is on par with him in talent, passion for magic and thrive for perfection. They both could benefit so much in this mentor-student almost parent-like relationship. Siobhan hates him how, and for a good reason, but can it be mended somehow? Can Thaddeus break from his vows any time soon?
“I’m incredibly, ambitiously, prodigiously selfish. So much so that you probably cannot fathom the depth of my greed.”
Anyone have ideas on what he’s saying here? Is it his plan to overthrow the Crowns? It’s just that I think it’s more than that.
Well his nominal plan while it may greatly aid standards of living, will inevitably have quite a lot of collateral damage from those with prexisitng power lashing out. So in that sense his plan is quite selfish, this extends to any country including Osham that may be threatened by his actions. The main credit you can give Oliver is he has actually thought his actions through fairly well and at least has continued to have willingness to refine his plan.
